Privacy Policy — July 2026

The short version: there is nothing to collect.

Your voice

Yena transcribes speech using a model that runs entirely on your Mac. Audio is processed locally, in memory, and discarded the moment it becomes text. No audio, transcription, or derivative of either ever leaves your device. There is no Yena server for it to be sent to.

Accounts and analytics

The app has no accounts, no sign-in, no telemetry, no analytics, and no crash reporting that phones home. We cannot see how you use Yena, and we prefer it that way.

Network access

Yena connects to the internet in exactly two cases: downloading the speech model on first launch, and checking for app updates (a request for a small version file — appcast.xml — that contains no personal information).

This website

openyena.com is a static page served by Cloudflare. We don't set cookies and don't run third-party trackers. Cloudflare may process standard server logs (IP address, user agent) to serve and protect the site, as described in their privacy policy.

Permissions Yena asks for

Microphone — to hear you while you hold Fn. Accessibility — to type the result into the app you're using. Both are granted through macOS system prompts and can be revoked any time in System Settings.

Changes and contact

If this policy ever changes, the update will be posted on this page with a new date. Questions: hello@openyena.com.
